For the first time in O gauge, Lionel presents scale-sized, interconnected TankTrain tank cars. In real railroading, Canadian National currently uses these specialized cars in unit petroleum trains. Using a system of hoses and valves, all of the tank cars in a TankTrain string are connected, allowing for the entire consist to be loaded or unloaded from one end. The system greatly increases efficiency and turnaround time, compared to conventionally loading and unloading each car individually. This Lionel train set features a string of TankTrain tank cars in prototypical Canadian National livery headed by a TMCC and Odyssey System equipped Dash 9 diesel. Each of the all-new tank cars feature many separately applied details, such as piping and walkways. In the tradition of modern caboose-less railroading, an End-of-Train-Device is mounted on the rear of the B-end car. The highly detailed tank car trucks include rotating bearing caps and realistic operating couplers with a hidden uncoupling tab.
